Delphi Continues to Expand Their Vision for Excellence in Orthopedic Care With Addition of Samuel G. Agnew, M.D., FACS

Agnew, M.D., FACS to its staff as Corporate Medical Director for Orthopedics. Dr. Agnew will serve as an expert consultant to our growing number of Orthopedic Hospitalist programs across the country which offer a solution to the growing number of hospitals whose Orthopedists no longer want to take ED call. Dr. Agnew will also be working with Delphi on new and existing Orthopedic Trauma and Comprehensive Fracture programs. His credentials position him to be an invaluable resource as Delphi expands its vision for excellent orthopedic patient care in hospital Emergency Departments.

Dr. Agnew is a respected member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery (AAOS) as well as the Orthopedic Trauma Association (OTA) where he has served on the Healthcare Policy Committee for the six years. Through his work with the OTA, Dr. Agnew continues to provide career guidance to new and established Orthopedic physicians regarding their hospital contractual relationships, operating room (OR) personnel expectations, having dedicated OR time, block time issues, OR turnover time, and more. Dr. Agnew consults with hospitals on these same issues. Both the AAOS and the OTA currently support and sponsor Dr. Agnew in his efforts to promote excellence in the day to day details of practice management and operations. Dr. Agnew will work with Delphi to ensure compliance with all OTA and AAOS guidelines and practices is maintained.

Awarded his Doctor of Medicine degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1984, Dr. Agnew did his Orthopedic Residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and his Orthopedic Traumatology Fellowship at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. During 1990--1991 he was Assistant Professor and Chief of Trauma, Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. From 1991--1995 he was the Director of Orthopedic Trauma at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. From 1995--2001 he was the Chief of Orthopedic Trauma at the University of Florida Jacksonville. Since 2001 he has been the Director of Orthopedic Trauma at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, SC.
