Renowned West Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeon Refutes Allegations Made by The Iowa Board of Medicine
West Des Moines, IA (PRWEB) April 8, 2009 -- Dr. Leonard Lomax, Renowned West Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeon, President of The Lomax Group, P.C. and Ultimaxx, LLC, Natural Health and Sports Nutrition, vehemently refutes allegations made against him by the Iowa Board of Medicine. Dr. Lomax says, "These allegations are not only factually inaccurate and misleading but personally egregious. I will stress that they are allegations and not facts. Furthermore, these allegations originally surfaced in 2004-2005 at which time I personally met with representatives of the Board to address them. Unfortunately we live in a society where people are judged guilty before facts are proven and one where people can say and print whatever they like about people, basically with no consequence. This definitely raises the question of what is the true motivation here especially since these allegations were addressed several years ago".
Dr. Lomax also goes on to say, "I am deeply disappointed to be the subject of such an attack, especially when I've devoted the majority of my time and clinical practice the past 5 years to teaching residents, medical students and providing care to the underserved/indigent population, with limited resources and minimal help from the hospital I worked for. Furthermore, I am deeply saddened that I received no support from that institution after these horrible allegations were made. There is no loyalty anymore and this is really sad. As physicians it's tough enough managing and caring for patients, especially the underserved/indigent population, as they typically are the most difficult cases, but having to deal with the politics of medicine on a daily basis is making things much worse. It really has deteriorated to the point where you have to watch your back at all times and if you're the least bit different in any way or not in the right inner circle, you quickly become a target".
Finally, Dr. Lomax states, "I believe and hold true that we must take responsibility for our actions, good and bad, which I have always done and will continue to do. I apologize to my family, friends, patients and students for any negative fallout from this unfortunate situation as it has affected us all. I will assure you however, that I will continue to fight for minorities like myself, for patients and for what's right. I will neither be bullied nor intimidated and I will fight until I am exonerated from these horrible allegations".
